Milous, if you have a 2X option instead of a 2.4x that means you are using DVD-R DL discs, try getting a verbatim DVD+R DL disc and see what happens there.
I am definitely using DVD+R discs... here's a screen shot of the pre-burn set-up:

Milous,

You've got something funky going on or you might be overlooking something.  You cannot burn a DVD+R DL disc at 2x... It's not happening... The specification for +R DL is 2.4x as the next speed above 1x, there is no real burn at 2x.  There IS a 2x option on -R DL discs, but I am not sure if the REC unit will read -R discs.

Here are some specs on your drive and if you look at speeds available on DVD+R DL you'll see what I'm talking about:

http://www.extrememhz.com/dvr108-p1.shtml

Also this site had some good info on a review of your drive, might help you decide what types of media you use.

http://www.cdrinfo.com/Sections/Reviews/Specific.aspx?ArticleId=10114

Perhaps you need to use different software to burn the ISO to dvd?  Your software may not be getting along well with the burner if it's not reporting the proper speeds to be burnt at with that media in the drive...

Hi. Very greatfull for the patch but would really like to revert back to just the AE without the hack. Is this possible and a step by step on how to change the version number so it think its another firmware upgrade. Thank you.

Very interesting that it is reporting a 2x burn speed using +R media. In fact the only choices for burn speed are 2x and 4x. I know my Pioneer 108 has the latest firmware, and UltraISO is reporting the model and firmware correctly. I wonder if anyone else is having a similar issue?

As far as -R discs go the REC definitely supports them. Back in February I bought a copy of the then just released AD disc direct from Alpine. I burned a backup copy so I could store the original away. I used a Ridata -R disc for the copy and it has been running absolutely perfect for the past 8 months. I didn't fool with any ISO conversions, I simply made the copy on a DVD stand-alone dupe tower at a friends workplace. He also ran a copy and it worked perfect for him as well.

Today I drove my car a bit and did not get a single error, so the "load" issue I am having is somewhat intermittent. And when it does happen ejecting/reinserting the discs just once fixes it everytime and is it good for the entire ignition cycle and sometimes many cycles.

I think that next I will take my current +R AE disc over to my friends tower again and run a dupe. I'll copy it to the tower's HD and then load a blank +R disc and see if it reports a burn speed of 2.4x, which I assume that it will. I'll then try the "new" copy and see if I get any errors.

Which files contain the map data, I may just remove those and burn an in-tact as possible update DVD sans large unnecessary files.

good luck with that and let us know if you had success!!
I think the maps are in one of the > 1 GB files..  (dont have my DVD in front of me right now..)

Additional torrent at:

http://thepiratebay.org/tor/3537996/Dodge_Chrysler_Sep_2007_DVD_Navigation_Disk_05064033AE

It could use some seeders.  If you don't already have the dl, please seed!

Disc load error update

As mentioned I was getting intermittent disc load errors with the copy I had burned on my home computer with a Pioneer A08. This was the copy that for some reason the program was "allowing" or reporting only 2x burn speed instead of 2.4x. The disc worked great most of the time but every couple days would get a load error. Ejecting the disc and reinserting always solved the problem until a day or two later.

So I took the same burned copy I was having issues with and loaded it into the HD on a DVD burn tower (Pioneer A09 drives). Ran a copy using the same media, Verbatim DL +R. It has now been a week and I have done a lot of driving time and so far not a single error, it has been running flawlessly.

I'll be your guinea pig then.  I gave up on tinkering with version numbers in the long run since I can just use a 2.04.02 to replace it with unhacked software and run the stock disc.  Will let you when/if this works... dum dum dum.  Which files contain the map data, I may just remove those and burn an in-tact as possible update DVD sans large unnecessary files.

hey titan, did you try to make a "program only" disc now? does it work with a single layer disc sans map data?

Patch works great!!! I burned the AE version on a Memorex disc (finally worked on the second one!!!)  Patched the files and re-burned on another Memorex.  The disc installed correctly after the first two times of trying to get it to work, however I had to use my first burned AE version because the patched disc would not read after it installed...go figure?  ANYHOW, now Im cruzin' around with in motion navigation menus...thanks guys!!! This is definetly a must DO for every navi owner!!!

I am scared to until I get some assurance that it will work Smiley  I really just want to know which large files I can cut off to make it fit on a 4.7GB without posing a problem before I dive in.

The files required would be the ZH200 and ZH2FF folders and contents, along with the .MNG and DISKINFO files.

We believe we have a working hack to completely disable the in-motion limitations...
Indeed you do, Vendes, et. al.  Smiley

Thanks to all who made this hack possible. It functions flawlessly.

How sweet it is to finally be able to change destinations, etc. on the move.

'Long, long, overdue and immensely appreciated!

Just so you don't think you are crazy, it is totally possible to burn at 2x, 4x, 6x, 8x on +R DL media..  I have a NEC-3550a that does hi speed DL media and it will not give a 2.4x option if you put high speed DL media in..  Just 2, 4, 6, or 8..  So that's what you are probably seeing..  I'm burning Verbatim +R DL media at 2x right now..  I went ahead and changed my version # to 2.03 so if I do goof, I can just run the real AE disc...  I am on AC at the moment, so no problem for me..
