Yes, the Commander uses the exact same REC unit as the Grand Cherokee and other Chrysler vehicles.

Is the startup screen the Disclaimer Page or the Warning Page in the code?   Huh

I'm moving this topic to another thread to keep the discussion more organized.

I downloaded the AE torrent that is available.  It came with two files though, the ISO and a MD5SUM file.  When I expand the ISO, there is an MD5SUM file that expands in the top level directory.

My first question is, does the MD5SUM file even belong?  You state there should be 14 loose files, but I have 15 in the ISO I expanded.  Comparing to my AD version, that MD5SUM file is the one that the AE ISO has that the AD version does not.

If it does belong, which of the others doesnt to make 14 files?  And if it does belong, should I overwrite the one that expanded from the ISO with the one that came separate in the download?

Thanks for any insight you can offer.

The MD5SUM file should not be ON the dvd once it's burned.  It is merely there as a means to verify your download was good.

Thanks,

How can i make and or burn an iso if i dont have the full version of isomaker or magic iso?  Nero just isnt working.  Also.  If I already updated my unit to the AE version from the torrent file can i upgrade to the hacked AE motion, because, I ripped the ISO from the torrent, and loaded it in my car adn the unit updated and runs fine with the new AE version of the software, however when I copy that DVD to my desktop and apply the patch, i follow the instructions and update the software, now I'm ready to burn, i burned using verbatium and the unit wont read the hacked disk.  Any ideas?

Hey guys...just downloaded the torrent and installed the patch. I removed the backup files that the patch program created and also copied the files as instructed on the first page of this thread. I then used ImgBurn to create the image then to burn to a memorex DVD +R DL disc. The update completed succesfully but now it keeps rejecting the disc...it says cannot load or something like that. Any ideas? Please help.

Sounds like the unit is having a problem reading the database file.  Only suggtion I have is to try burning another one straight from the ISO image you downloaded, making sure you're burning at 2.4x speed.

Once the Nav has loaded the patched version you can use an unpatched disc just fine.  So I'd give it a try with the ISO just as you downloaded it.

...what he said.  I burned my 2.4x disc using ImgBurn at only 2x for maximum assurance of a good burn (Dell Inspiron 6000 with a NEC DVD burner) AFTER I confirmed the OEM manufacturer of the disc itself.

FYI, "name brand" disks are not always "good enough" nor manufactured by whom you might think.  You only want to use "tier 1" or "tier 2" quality disks for this project!  Read about how to identify you media using DiskInfo at http://www.digitalfaq.com/media/dvdmedia.htm.  My TDK disc turned out to be tier 2 manufactured by Richo (good enough).

Use the .iso file again and burn a copy of it.  To DVD+R DL media (double layer) media, of course.

You only need to use the patched firmware once, to update the radio.  Once it's updated you can use a plain old unpatched factory disc.  Which, in keeping with legal copyright issues, you should already own anyway.

So get a hold of some decent DL media and burn a fresh copy directly from the .iso image file.  See if that works.

This is great news, altough not so good for us who know nothing about patches, copying dvd and burning dual layer, etc. Also not so good for us mac users? Not sure if I can do all the dvd stuff on a G5. Is anyone willing to do this for me if I send them a AE DVD? Thanks. BTW I don't have AE version but I am willing to purchase it just so I could get rid of in motion menu.

You've got one on the way, don't worry about it.  Wink
