Welcome to the forums!

The purpose of these forums is for an open discussion of LEGALLY hacking the electronics and networks in our cars.  The broader hacking community has done an amazing job of getting countless devices to do things the original designers didn't envision.  Sometimes it's creative inspiration they lacked. More often it's resources, foresight, insight into customer desires, or a combination of all of these.

Cars are one of the most pervasive computing devices in the world, yet one of the least hacked devices as well.  In an era where nearly every aspect of our vehicle's operation is driven by computers, some of us believe it's high time the hacking community turned its creative attention in that direction.

Our goal here is to promote discussion and creative exploration of unlocking the potential in our cars.  Whether it be as basic as interfacing an XM Receiver to an OEM radio, or as involved as completely reprogramming an ECM.

Now for the downside...  The powers that be do not always approve or welcome these efforts.  As a result we need to be careful to stay on the proper side of what can legally be shared out in the open.  Specifically we ask that you DO NOT POST CODE unless you wrote it yourself or you know it to be legally publicly distributable.  You can discuss code, explain how it work, explain how to modify it, explain where to get it, provide links on where to get it, provide patch files for it, explain how to disassemble it, provide links to tools to help with any of the above, but PLEASE DO NOT POST COPYRIGHTED CODE.  Offending posts will be deleted for legal reasons, and repeat offenders will be banned.

With that said...  Get hacking!!

Just in case anyone wasnt clear; these rules apply to the entire board.  Just because you cant post certain things in one forum, doesnt mean you can get around the rule by posting in some other forum
